Burwash Horticultural Society

Burwash Horticultural Society

The society was formed in 1889 to promote an interest in gardening in the village and surrounding area and has drawn membership from all walks of life with perhaps the most famous being Rudyard Kipling who was the society’s Vice President in 1911

Current membership stands at 90+ and new members are always welcome. The annual subscription is only £1.50.

We hold three shows throughout the year commencing with the Spring show in April, the Delphinium, Rose and Sweet Pea Show in June and the Summer Show for Flowers and Vegetables in August.

The shows are easy to enter, with prize money, certificates and cups for the winners. They always generate a great deal of interest in the village and are well attended.

Show Schedules are available from the newsagents in the High Street and members are sent a schedule at the start of the year.

We also hold a plant sale in May and have two talks from professional speakers, one in March and one in October.
