An Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty in the Sussex Weald
A community website serving residents and visitors in the three villages of
Burwash, Burwash Common and Burwash Weald

Burwash Fair

This annual community event takes place from 1-00pm to 5-00pm on August Bank Holiday Monday at Swan Meadow playing field, Ham Lane, Burwash. It is the main fund raising event of the Burwash Playing Field Association, which also provides an opportunity for local charitable groups and organisations to raise funds for their own needs. Craft stalls, varied exhibitors and trade stands complement the event.

There is always a good crowd with regular visitors from as far afield as Eastbourne, Maidstone and Tonbridge, as well as massive local support, and given good weather as many as 5,000 people may make their way through the gates on the day.

We usually have a live band. Family fun and value for money are our goals, with free entry and low cost car parking. Of course we do have donation buckets at the entrances and exits, and judging by the way these are filled with notes and change the public support our aims.

We usually have a different theme each year, and you may find some decorated stalls and both children and adults in fancy dress to reflect this - so be prepared we may look a little odd. There will always be a BBQ, ice creams, teas, coffees and the legendary Burwash cakes, plus plenty more to satisfy your appetite.

And don’t forget the fabulous views from Swan Meadow across the Rother valley and deep into Kent. Simply stunning!
